Why dont you stay there for couple of months and finish all these conferences and come back, past 6 months since you are been elected this is 3rd time you are in Europe, if you have such important speeches so closely why dont you stay there for a while. After all its our money you are spending. Whether you are in Male' or in UK nothing much changes for a common man's life here in Maldives. Your sweet speeches, about good governance works only for you and your associates in MDP my dear president. We the common folks are struggling to survive in these economic turmoils and global recession.
We can lock President Anni in his office but nothing is going to improve. He needs to go and visit Europe more often. His clean image as a new world leader will give comfort to the prospective European tourists who will come to visit out shores in the days to come. His visits have yielded millions of dollars, where in case of Gayoom he spends more money himself than bringing anything to us, at home. This is wonderful opportunity for Nasheed to tell the world about our vulnerability, and our concern. We need more aid, more assistance and world's good will. Gayoom is hanging out in Egypt, trying to find a house to accommodate the furniture he took from Theemuge. Anni we are very proud of you, we know, for sure, when you leave us, you will work hard to get the best of all, to the people of Maldives.
Anni, what you talk is not in consistent with your behaviour. Wy do you have to visit to UK now and then. Country's presidents do not make such frequent trips abroad. I have never seen any head of state from SOuth Sia vising to Uk in the last one year except Indian Prime Minister Mr Singh who visited to attend G20 summit. This is Anni's second visit to UK. Last time you said you will bring many investments from UK to Maldives and how many Britains have invested in Maldives. This time als you mad a similar comment when departing that you are going to bring investments from UK.
Do not waste tax payers money like this. We are watching you closely Remember this is not Golha's era.
This is nothing but complete waste of public money. Nasheed has appointed Sappe as his environment envoy and that fellow is based in UK funded with our money for his beers and drinks. If this guy Nasheed is preaching what he call "heyoerikameh" why don't he sappe to represent Maldives in these forums. That will save millions of our money. Nasheed you are a crook and nothing but an empty vessel making loud noises. Can you tell me even one thing that you have made better in our life here in Maldives. Now we are getting angry. Stop wasting public money you bastard.
Maldives needs to make high level representations in these places when specifically invited. Unlike the old dictator, President Nasheed does not waste his time whilst on these official visits. He works hard.
President Nasheed's participation at such conferences is very important to our country. It is during such conferences and gatherings that the president will get to meet and know world leaders. Such meetings will enable the president to discuss his vision and our small country's needs.
And understandably, for anyone it will be easier to ask for help and favours from other leaders if you know them personally or at least if you have met them. Moreover, many financial and other deals are made during such meetings.
So, I think president should meet as many world leaders as possible.
The benefits of such meetings may not be visible immediately, but I am sure we will soon find them. In other words, life for the average Maldivian may not have improved during the past 6 months as one commenter mentioned. Life has not deteriorated either. I am not disappointed at all because I can see President Nasheed working really hard to make our lives better for us. And we have already started seeing results.
We know what he does in these overseas extravagant trips. Sula Shiraz is something better than even Coke for him. He's a non-Islamic activist trying to establish a Church in Maldives. He'll do it if we remain calm. Nothing have changed since he came to power, rather the conditions deteriorated badly. UK has no interest in our affairs other than to evade Islam from Maldives. India and China, they have geopolitical interest in Maldives. So they always have to maintain bilateral relations.
Don't waste public funds when the common man are struggling to face the economic turmoil...
Dont worry President, Keep going, end of the day you have a very able Vice President, Prime Minister Zaki, so no worries, We are OK even if you are based in UK. We love you Mr President.
