The home coming of the Maldives national team yesterday was quite a spectacle by any stretch of imagination. The whole of the capital was covered in red as the supporters gathered all over the island to get a glimpse of their team and the South Asian Football Federation Cup 2008. Maldives won the final against India by a last minute goal, which has brought unimaginable joy to the people. The team was given a red carpet treatment and they went around the capital on a lorry to show the so called 12th player, the Red Army, their treasured trophy. You stupid guys are making those low discipline Maldivian players too proud of them self. Just coz Maldives won this cup doesn't mean they are the king..come on!! Give me a break! Yep SAARC is a cricket region.. if we want greatness in football then we should achieve gud results in AFC CUP.
We should try and beat football playing Nations in Asia. not Vietnam, Mongolia, Laos or Cricket playing nations like India or Nepal which dosent even have a football league.
This cup thing is creating a mountain out of a mole hill. Search google its not even covered on any gud news paper. A non issue.

Yes, we didnt even see a single Indian flag waving fan in the stadium. Wonder wether they have any care for football. I have lived in Colombo, have seen how much Indians are flooding to colombo for a criket tournament. All hotels will be full of Indians during cricket events. For a day there more than 10 flights going to colombo from India, but I dont think anybody from India went to colombo to watch the final. Same with Sri Lanka, 99% Srilankans didnt even know there was a football tournament and their team played in it!! What a difference..!
We don't have money to develop sewerage systems in the islands because there is no money in the government. However, when the team wins SAFF government has money to give 200k for every member in the team plus it can travel all the 200 inhabited islands. Stupid Maldivians don't realize what is going on. Golha is doing whatever he can do to divert people's minds to somewhere else than politics.
we shoudl support the team, and i am a good , really good supporter.
But when Gayoom handovered the government money to the players, i am a bit confused.
We can give other incentives like free medical from any hospital in Male' for their life time, or somthing simillar.
and we can develope a poor island's power generation or some basic service from those moneys.

Collect as muh as you can, and return the money to children's fund or NGO to distribute for hadicap children.

I wonder why you guys always have to make it a political thing. Ya we know golhaa haven't been good for us. But appreciate once that we had one a tournament like this.
